I raced on A70 Hoosiers Street TDs for many years... still do on occasion.
Since the rules allow, more often I race on the 185/60 Hoosier Street TDs.
Gary kropf likes the Hoosier radial, and many others got a BF Goodrich spec
radial from Elmo at a fraction of the cost of Hoosiers... but those are all
long since spoken for.
The Hoosiers are plenty exopensive... not sure I'd want to spend the
addition $dough$ on them. Dunlop also makes an expensive tire similar to
what you describe in the Goodyears.
I get 4 to 6 races out of a set of 60's , depending on the track surface.
The 70's last longer... sometimes a season and a half if you don't flat spot
them.
The 60 series Hoosier is noticably quicker than the 70 series... but,
sometimes I get lazy and just use the 70's rather than change the rear gear
for a certain track. I think the sidewalls on the 60 series are stiffer...
as the contact patch is nearly the same as far as width goes.
VSCDA does nothave an issue with radials... unless something's changed off
season. Personally, I don't like to race on radails. Others love the
confidance it gives upon turning the car. me... I like the slide slide slide
hook feeling of the TD's.

Hi list,
I'm just jumping back in to racing a Bugeye after a 20+ year absence. Have a
question regarding tires for Vintage racing. I'm running a Bugeye with 13X5"
rims. I went with the Hoosier A70 Street TD tires, which are recommended for
5-7" rims. The tread is noticably curved with this set up. I'll run a
minimal tire pressure and check tire temps across the tread surface to try
to optimise, but it still seems like a narrower tire is in order.
Goodyear Vintage Sports Car Special Bluestreak tires are more of an actual
Vintage size with an inch or so narrower tread face. They are a harder
compound I believe. They remind me of the Firestone Indy SS tires I ran on
my original Bugeye. They were fun as they were easy to drift, but still fast
despite not being terribly sticky. Never seemed to change adhesion much even
after multiple seasons.
Has anyone raced both tires, and can they give me some impression of the
difference? Any experience to answer the questions below?
The blue streaks cost about twice as much, but I wonder would they last at
least twice as long?
How many race weekends are the Street TD Hoosiers good for on a Bugeye?
How many race weekends are the vintage blue streaks good for on a Bugeye?
What would the performance difference be? A couple seconds a lap at
Blackhawk (in favor of the Hoosiers)?
Any other thoughts? I am going to run VSCDA so radial tires are out of the
question.
