Joey,
I assume that you have pumped the pedal, the accelerator pump nozzles
discharged gas, hitting the butterflys with fuel and then it leaked past
play in the shaft. If the engine is not running it will not draw that fuel
into the engine under vacuum. Assuming the source of the fuel I stated above
is correct the greater question is what is the condition of your shafts or
the carb. housing that support the shafts. My best recollection of the
Autolite carb. is that it is just a steel shaft on the aluminum housing that
is prone to wear.
Other sources might be that the float level is too high. Look into carb. and
see if you can identify the source. Turn the ignition on and observe if the
fuel is leaking from a specific point. Finally, don't pump on the throttle
if the engine is not running (if in fact you have). Raw fuel washes oil from
the cylinder walls. I'm sure it will get sorted out in time.
