Hey Jim,
Proctor's Metal Finishing (Muskegon, Michigan)
http://proctorsmetalfinishing.net/default.aspx
I've used these guys for a lot
of chrome work and have always been very satisfied. Family run business,
great to deal with.
I can't recall what they charged for the vent window "caps" but it was not too
bad (but maybe 4 or 5 years ago). I had parts done in their "standard
quality" level and been very pleased (not "show quality"). I know that chrome
plating prices have gone up considerably just about everywhere. Plus: pot
metal / die cast parts are more expensive than stamped steel parts. It has
mostly to do with the work getting the original plating off... very tricky to
not start eating into the casting, etc. More pre-chrome work usually
required.
In any event, you can take a picture of the parts (with a ruler next to it)
and send them photos to get an estimate. Email: Arnoutsa@msn.com
No affiliation, just happy with their work.

I decided to get a set of the chromed pot-metal capsjust under the non-opening
vent windows restored and re-plated. The ones on my car are in poor shape so
I got some vent window assys. off
e-bay for fairly short money. The caps from these are actually better than on
my car but still need resto-replating.
A few questions: Anybody have a good experience getting these done and by
whom? What am I looking at monetarily for (ballpark) for this kind of job?

Best to all,

Jim Armstrong
