Thank you for your update =E2=80=93 still good information.

 =C2=A0

The basics with the Ford shifter is that it can be a little weak.

Seems to me when I worked my shifter; I inspected all the parts for straigh=
tness, rough edges and wear =E2=80=93 repaired as required

Keeping all the working parts parallel is important

If using 2 spring washers for added spring force or adding an extra washer =
or shim keeps everything parallel then do that

I remember stretching the big main spring on the shifter some to increase t=
he spring force =E2=80=93 an extra washer or shim there would do the same

Lube the working parts

 =C2=A0

Install shifter and follow the alignment procedure =E2=80=93 I think I went=
through this procedure twice =E2=80=93 1st time to set everything in place=
then rowed through the gears a couple of times then the 2nd alignment proc=
edure =E2=80=93 I think there was a slight offset which I corrected and all=
 was well

 =C2=A0

Some linkage parts are available =E2=80=93 C5ZZ-7285RPK =E2=80=93 the parts=
that attach the shift rod to the shifter levers

I=E2=80=99m thinking the kit you used had more parts.

If there were any instructions =E2=80=93 please share them with everyone.

 =C2=A0

The gearshift lever has trunnion set =E2=80=93 2 steel plugs and 2 springs =
=E2=80=93 I stretched these 2 springs=20

Do you have a part # for the kit you used?

Is it still listed in the David Kee catalog or do you have to ask for the k=

Do you have more description of what you did to the stock shift linkage?

Russ,

=C2=A0

Ron is right.=C2=A0 I had the same problem when my Tiger was factory new.=
=C2=A0 I remember sitting at an intersection and trying to get into 1st gea=
r.=C2=A0 Finally put it back into reverse and then back out and all was wel=
l.=C2=A0 Follow everybody's advice about linkage alignment, but I think tha=
t the problem will never completely go away - it's the nature of the beast.

=A0=C2=A0 I believe I=E2=80=99ve been there and sometimes still happens.

The linkage is stuck in reverse gear position.=C2=A0=C2=A0 If you put it ba=

=C2=A0 I found that worked after getting under the Tiger a couple times to =
get it in a forward gear which is no fun at all.

=C2=A0

I believe this problem is all in the shifter mechanism.

=C2=A0

I=E2=80=99m not exactly sure how I reduced this occurrence, it was 20 years=
ago, but here is a go at it.

I believe I took the shifter mechanism out =E2=80=93 cleaned it =E2=80=93 i=
nspected it - lubed it and I stretched the spring a little.

I also replaced the trunnion on the shifter.

Assemble the shifter =E2=80=93 check and adjust the shifter linkage as requ=
ired.

=C2=A0

That worked for me =E2=80=93 only once in a great while does the shifter ha=
ng up now.

=C2=A0

Hope this helps with your problem
