Hey Gary,

Yes the springs are used behind the bakerlite escutcheons but that keeps
them from dragging on the door trims when rotating and keeps them pished
out over the pins that hold the handles on. The rubbers prevent the handle
rattling on the shaft.

And yes the horn ring arrived at my friends...but its yet to work its way
to me yet... 2020.... Urgh
