SUMMARY: I can't buy it; nice car! - you want it?

An ad for a '57 (early) TR3 appeared last week in our local paper (College
Station, TX). It was one I had seen around town for quite some time and
knew that it was a strong driver. I went and took a drive on Sunday - nice
car!! The price in the paper is $9900, but he also put it in the Hill
Country Triumph Club (Austin) newsletter for $8000, so he's obviously
flexible on the price.

But the practical person who lives at my house says that I could only have
it if the other two projects weren't there, so I have to pass this time.
However, it's a good enough car for someone interested in 3's to give
serious thought.

Some details: The owner has had it for 16 years and a few years ago did a
fairly complete restoration. Everything is in really nice, although not
perfect, shape. And the engine is strong! I'm not a TR3 expert, but
everything under the bonnet seems very original, including the proper air
cleaners with the decal on them. The upholstery has been redone many years
ago and now shows some wear, but it's in good shape and is as original.
The carpet looks new. All the guages and indicators work EXCEPT for the
odometer, so there's no clue there about miles. (It reads about 28,000.)
The steering seems to have a lot of play, but I don't know what's normal
for this car. My (4-yr-old) daughter loved it - "Daddy, this car is fast!"

Let me know if you want more info; it's only a mile from my house.
