Just as a side note, I was autocrossing my 71 Mk IV two weeks ago on a 
rather long, straight course...that little button on the knob got moved 
by accident...oops....O/D came back at the end of the 120 mile trip home.

Next week I taped over the button.  I'll be happy to sell YOU a copy of 
this O/D saver kit for the low, low price of....never mind!
