Ross D. Vincenti says:

At the risk of incurring Mark's wrath (sorry chum), does the
concept of "moderating" the list seem somewhat Orwellian and "Big
Brother-like" to anyone other than me? Does the phrase "prior
   censureship" come to mind?

The short explaination is that the list is mine, I can do whatever I want
with it. It isn't like running a print magazine, such as "Road & Track" or
"British Car" where they are compelled to print each and every article sent
in by any author, with no regard to content, suitability, production
considerations and such drivel like that.

If you are unhappy with the list, a few possible actions on your part are:

-- Unsubscribe. Send mail to majordomo@autox.team.net with the command

        unsubscribe triumphs

     or

        unsubscribe triumphs-digest

as the body of the message.

-- Start your own mailing list, working under rules YOU set.

-- Start a newsgroup, if you don't want to deal with a mailing list.

For my part, it would certainly save me a lot of headaches to just turn
off all the lists completely. And, I often consider doing it these days
as I sit and watch my machine thrash around. The Triumph list is one of the
smaller ones, with about 450 subscribers all told. I picked it as the test
list for moderation since Monday morning it was quite active, sending out
lots of "me too" messages about mistaken automotive identities. Next week
I may moderate another list instead of triumphs, or it may be in addition to
triumphs. We'll see next week.
