First in regards to the following post:

This is a good idea at any time of year, it not only stirs up water, but
it also stirs up sediment which can clog your fuel filter.

I just spent $300 getting all of the rust cleaned out of the gas tank on my
1989 GMC S15 pickup and replacing the fuel pump. The fuel filter was so
plugged that the truck wouldn't start. A new fuel filter plugged in a half
mile and stalled the truck. The source of the rust was not the tank itself
so it must have been introduced from outside--presumably the gas station.
I was also advised not to buy gas at a station that was having its tanks
refilled.
But this raises a couple of questions. How many steel underground gas
storage tanks are left? My impression is that in Wisconsin, at least, they
have all been replaced with fiberglass units because 100% of steel tanks
eventually leak. So what could have been the source of the rust? Also,
too, don't the gas stations filter the gas before they run it through their
very expensive pumps? Ever see the inside of a gas pump? These babies are
pretty compliated and can't be cheap. If the amount of (presumably dirty)
gas I run through my truck's fuel pump (~10 gallons a week) is enough to
ruin it, then how long can a gas station fuel pump last if it is pumping
>>1000's of gallons a week of dirty gas? Wouldn't the gas stations need to
filter their own fuel just to protect their pumps?

Re: TR3 bow colours (TeriAnn Wakeman)
The bow on my Dec 1960 (TS74,000?) TR3A was body color (pale yellow) when I
bought the car. Although it has been several years, I recall that when I
sandblasted it, the original color was pale yelow as well--but I could be
wrong. But this brings on two other questions: First, my bow had a strip
of fuzzy material glued to the front edge of the front bow. Does anyone
know if this was factory installed or a PO mod? Second, the current TRF
TR3 glovebox companion shows a webbing kit that uses pop rivets for
attaching the strap mounting plates to the bows whereas screws are used on
my car. Can anyone comment on which is original (or both)?
