HS6's are not allowed on TR6's for smogging; only Federally approved
Strombergs. When one "visits" the smog station, the techos are
required to be very attendent to the equipment installed - carb types
and number, EGR's, carbon-cannisters, smog-pumps, vacuum lines, etc.
EPA issues each smog station with an exhaustive encyclopaedia which
covers all cars and details what equipment is required on which
cars, sorted by year. It even includes part numbers on carbs!

Many of us have experienced rolling up to a Calif. smog station only
to be refused service by the operators, because they dont want to to
be responsible for an engine that they dont understand and expect to fail;
to them it is time wasted which means less profit.

Some pundits on the list suggest that most smog-station operators dont
know a Stromberg from an SU. Probably true, but you dont want to be
referred to the State-run station. The lads there will go over your
car with a fine tooth-comb, and fail it instantly for any deviation
from Federal/CA approval before even putting it on the dyno-rollers.

In short, do not install HS6's for smogging; if you do, you will
inevitably fail, and that will be one less TR6 on Calif. roads.
