I'd like to find out what's involved in adding an overdrive unit to my
'60 TR3a. I may have an opportunity to get one if I act fast, but have
to know how much I need to buy. Here's what (I think) I need to know:

     1. On my Spitfires I recall that the mainshaft of the transmission
carried right through into the overdrive unit. In other words, in that
case you'd have to get the transmission/od together. Same on TR3a? Or
can I just buy the overdrive unit and bolt it on?
     2. Is the overall length going to be different, thus necessitating
getting the shorter driveshaft from the overdrive(n) car?
     3. Should I care about the differential ratio?
     4. Any speedometer implications?

     Thanks in advance,
     Jim Wallace
