Hans and others,

FYI the speedo cable assembly (core and sheath) is not that expensive (only
about $20-25 US from the big three).   The real investment is in the time
spent for R & R.

Anyone else ever have the plastic cable end (that holds the cable to the
guage) break off,  as it was on my car?   Maybe that's what is causing the
jumping.    It was only a short while before the core broke after that <sigh>.
