I'm replacing the seals on the clutch master cylinder on my Triumph 2.5S. The
kit is a 'multi-purpose' kit that covers both Mk1 and Mk2 models. This means
that there are more seals than necessary and I'm trying to sort out which to
use. Two 2nd hand cylinders that I have stripped have slightly different
arrangements for the seals and I'm now confused.
The Haynes manual in this case is not too clear. It appears that there is a
main seal on the piston (that's OK) and then between the piston and spring
there is a rubber cap (this is the problem one) - the manual shows it lip
towards the piston but says that when replacing fit it into the bore lip
first!?! One cylinder had this fitted lip first, the other had no seal like
this and had a very heavily scored bore.
Can anybody shed any light on this please?
thanks
Andy
