I am thinking of putting in a diferent distributer,
instead of fitting optical ignition. My idea is
one from a Metro '85 on. With braker less points
Hall Efect. I want to know if these advance figures
are OK for a spitfire. Does anyone have the correct
figures?

This is for the 1300 engin with a timing of 10 BTDC

Centrafugal advance (decelerating)
5200 24-28
2800 23-27
2500 16-20
1600 08-12
700 00-04

Vacume advance
14-18 at 8in(203mm)Hg

Anyone done this, and are the fittings the same.

Is it a good idea.

My other alternative is to pester a frend with
a 2.5PI for the specs for an optical converstion
he did. This was a home made job, it proved very
relyable. He later converted it to direct (rotor less)
ignition.
