Spitfire Engine Conversion Blasphemy

Here's an idle thought.

I've never heard of anyone trying to put an MGB engine in a Spitfire. Why not?  
That 1.8 
liter might be a nice bonus to a car that weighs (how much?) less than an MGB.

Looking ahead, I suppose the answer is:  "well, for starters, everything's in 
the wrong 
place, so if you're going to go to the trouble of swapping out, you might as 
well put in 
something even bigger."

Am I close?
