Thanks to all that helped the purple wire seemed to be ground.  CAUTION: 
Do not try to use an OE GM coil with it.  It is fried.  The Lucas works
fine though.  

Another question though.  I have a Weber with the electric choke.  What
wires go to it, I cannot seem to get it to back off.  I figured I would
just not hook it up because it does not get all that cold but apparently it
has to be to pull it off/.

Any info is greatly appreciated.
