I've seen people do it on 4.5" Spit rims but I wouldn't... 175's are about as 
big as I'd
go. You're just not gaining anything with the wider tire on the skinny rim. I 
think
Mk.III Spit rims are 4" (My MK.IV had acquired one over the years!)  Then I 
think it
might actually be unsafe...

GT6 rims were always 4.5" ....
