Rotoflexes, etc...

I was somewhat disappointed with the Triumphs Digest, and finally got
on the regular list. Decided to use a free Yahoo email account so as
not to clog my business email! By the way, I finally got $350 for my
ARE Libres
-- it turned out they were only 5" and not 6" rims, so my guy in Grand
Rapids couldn't race on 'em, but I found a '79 Spit owner who wanted
'em for the road. Oh and that Speedvision show about Triumphs -- the
factory
Spit GT's appear to be running the Alpine Rally on white pressed steel
wheels! Good enough company for me!

Anyway, I've got the rear axles back on the GT6+ after blasting,
painting, and installng new bearings, I do have a concern however.
Attaching first to the stub axles, and then to the spring eye bolt,
the wishbone was about an inch short of reaching its frame mount. My
specialist in Grand Rapids assured me that pulling the wishbone in and
thereby laterally distorting the rotoflex coupling was the original
state, and the way to go. 

Two tie-downs, a two foot steel pipe, ablock of wood and a come-along
later, (oh yes, and the "special" spring tool) I've got it all
attached. I know that coupling is flexible but just looking at that much
distortion makes me uncomfortable -- and that's without even putting
it back on the ground! It looks to me as though loading the suspension
will distort it even further =:-{ (that's look of alarm I just made up).

Not having had completely attached rotoflexes for a while, I'm
wondering if anyone who's done it (rotoflex replacement, that is)
could give me an opinion on this dilemma?
