My 1976 TR-6 is in original condition (still wearing original BRG) except
for the normal replacement of hoses, belts, etc. The wood dash is in nice
shape except for what appears to be water damage on the extreme edge near
the driver's side and some of the walnut veneer is missing (1"). Has
anyone had any luck with taking their dashboard to a wood working shop and
having them match a small section of walnut veneer vs. replacing the whole
thing. Given the finish on the rest of the dash is excellent it seems
worth asking and keeping the original in the car.

Second question, I am the fourth owner and either the first or second owner
sprayed the engine compartment with a black material (rust preventative?)
that can be removed with gasoline and a rag - leaving the original BRG
paint intact and still glossy, I know gasoline is extremely flamable and
wondering if mineral spirits would be a better alternative and less likely
to attack the paint.

Thanks, Charlie
