I'm not necessarily a beer connoisseur - I just enjoy dirknnig ti!
I think the term 'bitter' came about as an opposite to 'mild' which tends
to be dark in colour and very smooth on the palate. I don't think 'mild'
should be mistaken for Guinness or Murphy's - these are more in the 'Stout'
family, though I stand to be corrected. In the final analysis and after a
few pints, I don't know (and am usually long past caring) what it is that
