Peter,
I also would recommend copper. The gauge seems to respond faster at
startup, and you can polish the visible section under the hood when
you can't find something to repair.
I replaced a nylon line with copper on a car I had once and the only
drawback was that it transmitted engine noise back into the cockpit,
but it wasn't that objectionable. In fact, I was constantly aware of
the rocker arm adjustment.
