Took a nice drive today and spotted a TR4 with a 4 sale sign outside a
house on a country road.
It was a solid axle wire wheel model. Someone had done a dark metalic blue
paint job with with baby blue "scallops" that ran from the hood, over the
front fenders, and down the sides of the car! Nerf bars had replaced the
stock bumpers.
Also, the inside had a blue velour upholstery and a "Kustom Konsole"
wrapping around the shifter and running up to the dashbord.
The hood was propped open, It had an complete engine! Someone had added
extra gagues and an igniton switch next to the batery box, I'd quess to
make those under hoood tune up sessions that much easier! The car looked
like someone was trying to do that early sixties Oakland Roadster Show look
to an LBC! Very schizoid looking!
Anyway, no one came out of the house while I crawled all over the thing.
Either no one home, or they're to ashamed to come out and admit they owned
it! The 4 sale sign was asking $1200. The plate tags indicated the
registration had run out in June '97, so I have no idea if the thing even
runs.
Phone number: 401-295-1477. The location is off of route 102 in Exeter, RI,
in case anyone near by wants to see it. Email me, I'll get you dircetions
if you want.
The route is one of the most scenic in RI (and really well paved, a rarity
around here), and would make a wonderful Sunday drive in your LBC-
actually an amazing drive tomorrow since it's suppossed to be sunny and mid
eighties! Anyone for a cruise? As a added attraction, I can show you a
black Lotus Europa that's about 5 miles up the road. This poor Lotus had
been sitting outside in a horse corral for at least a dozen years! Must've
pissed off the owner royaly to deserve this payback! Maybe the guy is going
to put signs on the interstate and start a tourist trap- "See Colin
Chapmans Horse Farm!!!"
