Listers,

Finally got a chance to try and start my TR4 engine this weekend. After
replacing a faulty starter solenoid and swapping out the distributor with a
better one I got the engine to start. Darn if it doesn't purr like a kitten!!
Absolutely no smoke coming out of the exhaust. The strombergs seem to
be a little on the wacky side but I'm going to be putting SU's back on
anyway. The engine idles nice and smooth at about 600 rpm and oil
pressure at idle seems to be around 35psi and at high rpms gets up above
65psi. Don't know how accurate the oil pressure gauge is but from the
sound of the engine there has to be decent oil pressure. Never having
heard one of these engines run before I'm not sure if the lifter clatter was
excessive or not but it didn't sound to bad.

All in all it was a good day today<G>
