I have found that TRF does not have any stock on most of the major items on
my engine rebuild list. So my plan to buy gift certificates and wait for
the JAN'99 parts sale are cancelled or a least curtailed. This not a TRF
complaint thing... I like their parts and service... I just can't rebuild my
engine unless I change my policy and start dealing with other vendors.
I have been calling around and found that British Parts Northwest has most
of my engine parts at attractive prices. The Piston/Ring/Liner sets are not
AE brand.... they have are from a UK supplier that use Mahl pistons from
Germany. Does anyone have experience with these? I heard there were some
brands to avoid because of piston slap or something.
Many folks on the list have praised BPNW and they seem like nice people.
Based on there competitive prices I am inclined to buy most of my parts
here.... just to nail down the problem... don't want to get caught without
my car on the first nice day in April.
