sports car factory tours

Sorry to ask the list but I thought someone here might know this...

I will be in Europe in a few weeks and my route will take me to Stuttgart
and possibly Maranello. Has anyone toured the Porsche and/or Ferrari
factories and if so, did you have to book in advance?

I'd be interested in any past experiences with these tours or suggestions
for making these tours a reality (short of buying an example of each marque
-- I'm working on that already ;-)
