Concerning plywood vs. solid wood dashes: Plywood is the more stable
product. But straight grained solid wood like walnut (American black) or
mohagony will also stand up. The walnut dash in my TR6 has been there since
1990, and there is no sign of cracking or warping.
Nevertheless, given the choice veneered plywood is the better choice. You
need however, to use a plywood grade sold under various names such as Baltic
Birch, Russian, Europlywood. This plywood is almost voidless and has 7 to 9
layers within a supplyed thickness of .480 inches. It is cabinet grade and
very stable, most suitable for dashes.
