An even easier way (IMO) is to remove spark plugs, put car in neutral, and
turn the big nut on the alternator pulley. I think it takes a 7/8 socket but
don't quote me on that. ISTR it only works well when turning the pulley one
way so if you go past the point you want you need to make another round trip
but that is no biggie.

Alternatively, remove spark plugs, put in top gear, jack up rear so only one
wheel is off the ground, and turn the free rear wheel. This method has the
disadvantage of requiring either two people to properly determine where to
stop turning or one person who must go back and forth between the rear wheel
and the engine to check the position of the engine.
