Okay, since (with the help of this list - thanks all!) we narrowed it down
the a clutch problem, most likely the throwout bearing. I dropped by the
local LBC place and picked up the necessary parts and I started attacking it
a couple of hours ago.

The first portion of the clutch replacement has gone better than planned,
most of the interior removed within an hour. Driveshaft unbolted, exhaust
bracket unbolted, etc etc... all that is left are the bolts holding the
bellhousing to the block.

How do I get these off? I'm sitting there turning wrenches and they come
loose, but will not come out.

First I thought there was too much tension on them so I put a jack under the
gearbox and too take a bit of weight off the bolts... no good, they still
just spin.

Hopefully someone will know the answer before sunset, as I'd like to have
the gearbox out tonight.

Thanks!
