....I don't know if anybody gives a rip for a Spit out there.....'cause I
don't be like havin' a 'bio' on it or anything....(sorry, couldn't
resist).....

.......but maybe, just maybe..... somebody might know somebody who is
interested...... I have found a 1972 Spitfire....it has been stashed away
in a barn out in the county and the fellow wants to get rid of
it......there was an ad for it in the local 'Buy'n Sell'......

...this be Bellingham, Washington....30 miles south Canadian border......
and 80 miles north of Seattle......right next to the I-5 corridor so would
be very easy to transport.....

..........I called the guy and went and checked it out to see if it might
be worth, as they say out here in the county,.... "a pinch of coon
shit"......

............well, as a TR person for more years then I would care to admit
(but not as a "Spitter').....it might be of interest to a 'Spitter'....

...1972.....very, very straight....asking $350....could be $200....hell, if
you bring a 'jug' with you...... you could probably get it for $150....and
if you finished the jug with the guy...... you could probably get it for
$50....

Bad news:

....no seats ....motor and tranny gone ...but I did learn that they are in
Uncle Clem's barn...about 3-4 miles north..... on the Pole Road....he
(previous owner) was going to restore it but his wife done ran off with the
Postmaster......so 2/3 of the drive train are in a different barn....go
figure.....

......but can be provided....no idea as to condition of same as Uncle Clem
was milking the cows.....

........not.....repeat not......an overdrive rig.....but if they are
anything like the car....(not the cows, the motor and tranny)..... we're
talking rings, bearings........and pithney pins........ and a new Johnstone
bar.......and don't forget the new cluster gear ....etc. etc. etc. etc.
etc....but the housings are probably ok....sorry....

Good news (if that is indeed possible....)

.....very little rust..... new black 'canvas' top (why do they call it
that, how about plastic with some sort of flannel on the inside)........
all dash gauges and knobs present and the 'car' has not been left out in
the rain.....which we have a ton of here....rain I mean.......windows still
go up and down and well........... :-)

........the doors are in great shape....... as are the bonnet and trunk
lids.......body and 'fender' parts in very great shape....... door handles,
inside and out, all present and accounted for sir.....header (?) (go
figure)......... no 'bondo' found in any 'key areas"......(we know where
they are, don't we, you 'rockers' out there...... frame
straight.....headlight rims, light lenses and other exterior cool 'stuff'
all there.....

......well worth the money, I think, to a Spitter....if it was a '2 or '3,
hell, I'd be all over it like a cheap suit......(ok.....if it was a '4 or
a '5.... I guess I would be also)......

........but if it was a '6 or later..... I would have the goats tow it back
into the barn for another 10 years.....sorry you '6'ers....but I have had
several of all of the models...(way too many)..... and the '6's really will
get better with age.....trust me...the doors just don't quite cut it...and
we won't even talk about the 'butt'.....

....if anybody wants more info.......... and phone numbers etc.......
and/or a bucket of milk ...please respond to my email and not the
list......as we don't want to be takin' up any more bandwidth.....all those
folks givin' each other shit about the 'bio-thing', need the
space...........

....and I love this list....even with it's 'stuff'.....I mean after all
aren't we about TR's....and that, in and of itself, says alot about who we
are......sigh....

....ciao.......rj
