The odometer problem is clearly the head, the error and bouncing needle
might be the cable, but are most likely the head (probably all symptoms of
the same problem with the odo).

Either send the head out to be repaired, or check out Tony Rhode's excellent
article at http://ourworld.compuserve.com/homepages/arhodes/ for how to do
it yourself.
