I just checked a spare block, TS58344E (which would be from a 59 TR3A),
and it also has a casting number of 301435, low on the RHS.
I believe the casting number changed at least once during the TR3 run,
but have no idea when. Since the blocks are interchangeable, I don't
believe the casting no. changes correspond to anything except the molds
wearing out.
High on the left hand side of the block, there is a raised smooth area,
about 3/4" high by 3" long, with a bolt hole (for the coil mount), and
the engine serial number stamped into it.
