To the list:

I have had to replace waterpumps on a regular basis over the past
several years. Each time I get a new pump and use the old pulley. NOT A
GOOD IDEA.

When this last pump snapped off the front on the shaft I began to
look carefully and found that the hole through the old pulley had been
widened at the front and back which allowed it to wobble. The wobble
transmitted to the narrow portion of the shaft at the front and it would
eventually snap.

Just a note to let listers know and make sure and check the pulley
when replacing the water pump.

One other note. The older replacement pumps had to be ground in
places or the pulley would rub on the body casting. This one I just got has
a body casting that more closely resembles the original and no surgery is
necessary to make it work. Still doesn't have the grease fitting of the
original.
