Rear Tube Shocks. What kind?

I think my 73 TR6 could use new rear shocks. I would like to convert to a
tube type shock, but not real willing to buy the conversion kit. I think I
can build my own conversion kit, but I need to know what make and model
number shocks people are using. Any tips welcomed.
