maybe joining the party a little late, but 15 years of rebuilding outboard
motors, 3 major brands and all manufacturers called for torquing the
cylinder head bolts in a spiral pattern, straring from the center and
working out to the ends of the heads, doing it several times in increments
of about 25 percent of the total torque each time. Of course, with outboard
motors, the heads are all aluminum, but I would think that torque sequence
would be the same, regardless of material, as you are attempting to prevent
warpage as you tighten the head down on the gasket.. Rob Burnett tcf2722L,
