I know this is off topic but I put a spin-on adapter on my TR6. Since I
bought the unit second hand (though unused) it came without a bolt and I
salvaged one from a filter housing which proved to be just a little too
long and bottomed out just shy of tightening against the block. So I had
to back it up with a flat washer which I gooped up with Form-a-Gasket No.2
and I have not had a leak in the 12 years since.

Saying things like "leaks are inevitable" is the kind of fatalism the
prevents us from excelling. There are incurable leaks but oil filter
adapters are not one of them.

57 TR3 (No leaks in the cartridge filter)
71 TR6 (No leaks in the spin-on but plenty of others (eg: transmission,
diff))
80 TR8 (Practically no leaks at all once I fixed the sump plug copper
washer)
