I've seen a number of ways to accomplish this, from welding steel bars across
the door openings to using steel condiut bolted to the bonnet and trunk hinge
holes. My solution was a bit different -- I bolted 2X4s to the hinge holes,
one board on each side. I did this because it was easy and I already had the
scrap lumber. It seems to be successful, no collapse yet! Bear in mind that
before I even attempted to lift the tub, I replaced the floors and sills (so
far they are riveted in place. I waited for the welding until I had them off
the chassis.) Leaving the tub on while replacing floors and sills ensured
that the doors will fit properly, and makes it stronger when lifting it. I
