Porsche made a car with pancake motors on each wheel. I think it was
between the wars. I would think the unsprung weight would be rather high
but it did minimize mechanical drivetrain about as far as you can go.
Perhaps using a Pentogram would simplify things further but I don't see the
point in damning my eternal soul to hell when there are engineering
soultions available. ;-)
