I've been thinking about the pinned thrust washer fix. The shop manual says
to install the washers, you slide them into the slot in the block next to
the crank thrust surfaces. If the washers are to be pinned in place, it
seems they must be installed before the crank. How then can you install the
big heavy crank with only .005" clearance, without damaging the washers? And
don't say verrrry carefully :-)
