Thanks for all the suggestions on this one.  Turns out that I did switch
the front and rear springs when I installed them about 3 years ago.  I
thought I was being so careful when I was doing the reassembly too.  I
guess this situation is no different than every thing else I have done on
this car...I have to do it twice.  Once to put it together and then again
to put it together correctly.

I just switched them back on the passenger side and am going back out there
to do the drivers side now.  I'll post before and after pics to my web site
in case anyone is interested.
