Larry, that seems reasonably normal, if you've got a 180 degree thermostat
installed.

I've heard similar comments from other GT6 owners, IMO it's the nature of
the beast to some extent.  Look for any places, however small, where air can
get from the engine compartment or underneath the car into the passenger
compartment.  Adding insulation will certainly help.  A spoiler that scoops
air off the road and directs it up into the engine compartment would
probably help, too.

Hogwash !

Newly rebuilt engines do sometimes run a bit warm until they're broken in
good.  IMO the proper cure is to drive it somewhat gently for the first few
thousand miles.  Occasional short term full throttle/red line is good, but
don't try for any land speed records or quarter mile times.

Could also be a side effect of your 'mild race' cam.

Yes.  There is a steel shaft running in a brass bushing inside the tach.  It
could be getting hot and binding.

Sure.  Probably get a reading around 1500 rpm.
