I was down in Orange County (California) for the week for work. When
driving back to my hotel (after midnight), it would be cold so I had to get
out, lift the bonnet and open the water heater valve at the rear of the
head. Then today, I went to a Bakersfield British Car Club meeting and it
was over 100 degrees. I thought that some heat was still coming out of the
system, so I turned the valve off. Then driving back to Tehachapi tonight,
it was only in the 50's and I wished that the valve was open again.
I have been considering replacing the "faucet valve" at the rear of the
head with a 90 degree pipe fitting and then installing a drip irrigation
plastic 90 degree valve in the cockpit where I can turn it on or off while
driving. Has anyone else tried this? The ones I am thinking about are black,
made in Australia and have a handle that swings 90. degrees.
What do you think?
Cold in California in June. Go figure.
