Hello,
I went to pick up my rebuilt transmission (exchanging my old one), and
discovered that I apparently had the transmission from an early 4 or even a
3A. This was determined because the old transmission had a bolt to retain
the cross-shaft, apparently later 4s and all 4As didn't have this. I did at
least seem to have the correct front cover installed. Anyway, does anything
hold be cross shaft in place on a 4A? Can I used the old cross shaft, just
allowing it to float?
