Hi Ed,
Had the same problem. I noticed you didn't mention new front pads. I
finally broke down & replaced the power booster which you said you did
as well. After the booster replacement the brakes were better but not
perfect. A month later I decided to change the front pads to semi
metallic uprated. The old pads were still good but were on the car
previous to my caliper rebuild, booster replacement & master cyl
replacement. The old pads must have been the problem because that made
the difference. Pedal effort was the same but the grip was much better.
The old pads were either glazed or brake fluid saturated.
