Hi Eric - I may be the one you're thinking about. I just repainted my "2"
this last summer. The original color was signal red, and I repainted it
signal red. I used the Matrix 2 stage paint system, ie color coat/clear
coat. They couldn't match the color using the old codes, but, after a bunch
of phone calls, they came up with Ferarri Russo Red as the match. When I
first looked at it, it seemed to be the same color as the red TR2 on the
cover of Taylor's book; however, it now seems to be just a tad brighter, and
quite a bit brighter than the original color (based on what I found under
the commission plate). But, I have not color sanded and buffed (got some
other projects to complete first!) yet. As I recall from one prior car I
painted, the color does change slightly after color sanding and buffing.

Don't get me wrong, I am very pleased with the color, and can't wait to get
it finished and back out in the sun where it belongs. I think someone on
the list once said that they saw a line of TR2s and 3s, mostly signal red,
all were a little different shade, and all were very beautiful.

I would suggest that you ask your paint store to mix a sample batch of
Ferrari Russo Red, and see how you like it. If you have a piece with the
original color, and it has not been faded, you could take it to the paint
dealer, and they can do a computer match.

Good Luck,
David Gunn, TS3388L
