Jerry,

The cost of a new clutch plate is relatively low compared to the cost in
time at least of taking the transmission et al out of the car to change it
later.  Having stated the risk, I measured a new driven plate I have for a
Borg & Beck clutch.  It is 5/16 inch thick.
