Good afternoon all,

First off I would like to mention it is a beautiful day here in southern
Ontario, could not ask for any better (okay no mosquitoes). A couple of
weeks ago I mentioned that the 3 was giving idling problems and then I
broke the fan blades (I do have a pic if someone wants to see the
leftovers:-). Well this gave me an opportunity to do some things:

- Pulled the distributor and had it shipped off to be rebuilt,
thanks FT

- Replaced the fuel pump with a fresh rebuild of the spare

- Replaced the broken fan, again thanks FT

- Removed the secondary fuel filter by the tank, thanks Randall

This morning drove the 3 to work and had a blast, idles at 900rpm on the
nose, fuel economy is way up. The timing is set to about 8deg. Loads of
power and when coming to stop drops the idle to 900 and really doesnt move.
The temp stays at 185deg, the oil pressure is 40-60lbs at idle. This rises
to 75lbs at 3000rpm. When starting at lunch after a couple hours sitting,
first < sec and she fires up easily.

But, (isnt there always a but in these conversations), about 1 in 20
stops at a stoplight causes the idle to either drop to almost stall or the
idle drops to 1200 and simply stays there. My thought on this was a
sticking something in the carbs now since everything else has been gone
over or rebuilt, ideas? In the meantime I will enjoy the top-down
driving.

More later
