Well....there's a bit of confusion here. ;-)
First, a 1968 would likely be a "Mk1" GT6, but your subject line indicates a
"MkII" (GT6+ in the US).
If you're dealing with a US-spec "Mk1" GT6, the vast majority of them were
originally equipped with knockoff wire wheels! Otherwise, the "spec" wheel was
the plain 4.5" steel wheel with very narrow slots, painted Spa White, and
looking much like the wheels in
<http://www.triumphspitfire.com/images/cars/tommyjones.jpg>. It would also have
those hubcaps shown but also likely would have had "slotted" trim rings as
shown in <http://www.triumphspitfire.com/images/cars/jmdion.jpg>.
Now, if this is a US-spec GT6+, it would have had the same 4.5" wheels, usually
in silver, with the "pseudo-Rostyle" wheelcovers as seen in
<http://www.vtr.org/GT6/w-gt6-crop.jpg>. Or, you could have had the optional
wire wheels (in 1969 but not in 1970 as I recall)!
