I found my U-bolt source for longer U-bolts to accomodate lowering blocks.
They came from:

I had mine made to order and they were of a high quality and, oddly enough,
inexpensive. Something like $25 a few years ago.
And just for reference, regarding wood for lowing blocks, when I first embarked
on my lowering project, I employed lowering blocks made of teak wood (left over
from a sailboat project) before getting the permenant aluminum blocks.
