Hi List,
Does anybody know of a stateside source for a TR4A distributor (#40795) with
the proper vacuum advance (2-6-3). Carl Sereda confirms that I have one out
of something other than a Triumph TR4A. My distributor body is labeled
41212A, the mechanical advance is labeled 15 and should no higher than 12,
finally the vacuum advance is labeled 4-14-8 and should be 2-6-3. According
to Carl, my total advance is roughly 10 degrees more than it should be.
Wouldn't that be fun to track down why my new engine is pinging so much!
Especially since I was considering shaving the head..
Carl suggested a company in England called Holden but I thought I would see
if there is a closer source. There is a place in town here that can check
distributors on their SUN distributor machine. That is if they blow the dust
off of it these days.
Anyway, I thought I would ask you too.
I am going to the Marques on the Green car show tomorrow down in Loisville.
Thanks,
Dave Connitt
