My 4A seems to have the center just about 165 or so.  185 is at 2/3 of the 
scale.

My car was delivered from the factory ( to N.A.) with the so-called summer 
thermostat.  I am used to the needle riding in the center of the gauge, and I 
replaced the original 'stat with another one of the "summer" type.  I like it 
that way.  And I like having the "normal" position of needles be in the center 
of the range.
